Child Therapy
Child therapy is a form of mental health treatment specifically designed for children. This treatment
focuses on helping children understand and manage challenges that impact their emotional and mental
well-being, often through play, talk and other activities. Mental health therapy for children can help
improve their ability to learn, form relationships and function effectively at home, school, and in social
settings.
We approach Child therapy in a collaborative and developmental way to support a child’s emotional and behavioral growth. Therapists employ various methods when working with children and their families. Clinicians utilize a range of modalities, including, but not limited to, Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), play therapy, Cognitive Behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) for children and teens, exposure therapy, and mindfulness-based practices. Sessions are designed to build resilience, improve social skills, and address challenges such as anxiety, ADHD, or family changes, all within a safe and structured environment. Since the child goes home after each appointment, caregiver involvement is a key part of outpatient child therapy. Therapists work closely with parents, offering practical tools and strategies—referred to as "scaffolding"—to help ensure that progress made during sessions carries over into daily life at home and school.
